Seis lunas, Mother and baby day of the dead linocut
Only 1 left in stock
This print is my own reflection on motherhood, the many chores an responsibilities that were piled on my life suddenly and the joy that comes with it all. My daughter Flora was born on a full moon day after 3 1/2 days of pushing and poppies all around the city. I finished this print to celebrate 5 months of our relationship, which also sums 6 full moons. Of course, by now she has my heart in her little hand.
- Image is 9.5×11.5″ printed with oil-based block print ink
- Paper is 13×15″ Stonehenge warm white acid free
- The red is hand colored with watercolor.
This is a linoleum block print, also called relief print or linocut.
I hand carve the linoleum then ink it with a roller and transfer the image on paper with either the back of a spoon or in a press. Then I wait for the print to cure and hand color the flowers and red accents with color pencils and watercolor.
This print is a limited edition, meaning I only made a certain number of them, in this case 75.
I ship this print flat, unless is traveling to another country, in which case I’ll mail it in a near indestructible tube.
Thanks for looking.
